Every animal
deserves a loving home.

Founded in 1882 by the Marchioness of Ormonde, the charity was set up to promote the welfare of all animals, both domestic and wild. The first meeting took place in Kilkenny Castle on the 25th of April 1882 and became a registered charity in 1937. Today we are one of 17 affiliated member societies of the Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ISPCA). Our aim is to improve the welfare of all animals, domestic and wild. Kilkenny SPCA’s work includes: Inspections of reported cases of cruelty and advising the Gardai accordingly Providing shelter for animals in distress, including wild animals and birds Attending accidents involving animals and providing relief as necessary. Helping to re-home animals Helping owners find lost animals Providing a subsidized neutering scheme through vouchers Promoting education on animal welfare We are a voluntary organisation, funded by donations only
