Here’s what rescues using Cara say about it.
CaraShelters has made managing information relating to our residents far more seamless and efficient. We have a clean new rehoming page and a secure database to manage information from intake to rehoming.

Having used Cara Shelters for the past month, I’ve found it to be an excellent resource. It saves a huge amount of time and is an excellent tool for keeping all our records in one place. It’s intuitive, easy to use, and removes the need for cumbersome spreadsheets. Having everything organised and accessible in one system makes day-to-day management so much simpler. Highly recommended!

We would like to thank Cara for all the help and support they have given us, getting set up on the system and ongoing help. We have found them very adaptable and have listened to us on adapting the system, to suit our needs. We would highly recommend the system.

Yes. Cara works for animal shelters and rescues anywhere in the world. You can register from any country, choose the currency your donations and adoption fees are shown in, and run your public adoption portal for your own area. Cara was built in Ireland and most of the rescues using it today are Irish, so a few defaults lean that way, but nothing about signing up is restricted by country. Subscriptions are billed in euro wherever your shelter is based.
Register your shelterCara is €34.99 per month, or €315 per year — a 25% saving, which works out at roughly two months free. Both plans include every feature; there is no cheaper tier with things held back and no setup fee. Every new shelter gets a 30-day free trial with no card required, and you can move from monthly to yearly at any time from your billing page.
Register your shelterCara replaces the spreadsheets, Facebook messages and paper files most rescues run on. It holds animal records with photos, medical history and current status; takes adoption and foster applications through an online form; sends adoption contracts for signing by email; gives your shelter a public adoption page that anyone can browse; logs trap-neuter-return work and welfare reports; tracks foster homes and placements; and produces the year-end figures shelters need for funding returns such as the Irish Department of Agriculture animal welfare grant.
Register your shelterYes. Cara imports animal history from Trackabeast and Animal Shelter Manager exports directly, and shelters keeping their records in a spreadsheet have had those brought across too. Nothing is discarded in the process — any column that does not map to a Cara field is kept with the record rather than dropped.
